MedpageToday

Presentation

An 11-year-old boy presented to the emergency room due to an injury that occurred earlier that day. He had been in a martial arts class when he lost his balance, fell, and landed on his right outstretched arm. Since then, he had been experiencing right shoulder pain, edema, and decreased range of motion. On physical examination, shoulder swelling and deformity were palpable. He was unable to raise his right arm due to severe anterior shoulder pain. Ecchymoses and mild skin tenting were visible along the shoulder region.
