Keeping accurate tabs on hypoglycemic events is a challenge, since they often happen between clinic visits. But Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and technology company are trying to change that.

The entities partnered on HypoMap, a hypoglycemia tracker that enables patients to log when hypoglycemic events occur, what symptoms they experienced, and how they treated it.

All of that data is ultimately synthesized in reports that are delivered to both the patient and the physician, according to Joslin's , who is leading the HypoMap project.

"This makes the clinical encounter more efficient ... and turns the information into a teachable moment," Wolpert told ѻý.

The partnership leverages Joslin's clinical expertise with Glooko's diabetes app, which was approved by the FDA in 2013.

Wolpert explains the project in full in the accompanying video.
