Buffalo, N.Y., is one of the , according to a Reuters investigation.

In at least four city zip codes there, 40% of children tested from 2006 to 2014 had high lead levels, a rate eight times greater than that found among children in Flint, Mich., during that city's water crisis.

The ongoing Reuters investigation has found more than 3,300 areas nationally with childhood lead exposure rates at least double those found in the Michigan city.

This comes at a time when the Trump administration is advocating deep federal budget cuts that would drain billions from state and local programs aimed at lead poisoning.
